John Alephia OmayeChild RepresentativeI serve as a child representative for Elsophi Global Development, and I am the pioneer of a child-led programme called For Children, By Children (4CbyC).I conceived this programme with the guidance of the director of innovation because I believe that children should not just be talked about; we should be the ones doing things. Adults plan a lot of programmes for children. I wanted to show that children can plan and run programmes themselves, right now, while we are still young. In May 2026, 4CbyC held its first event, a Children's Day celebration that I planned, coordinated, and executed together with the Elsophi Global Development team. It was the first time I led a programme from idea to reality. It will not be the last.My role as Child Representative is also to make sure that the real voices and experiences of children, not just what adults think children need, shape everything ELSOPHI does. I bring a genuine children's perspective to our work so that our programmes truly help the children they are designed for. What I Do as a Child Representative→ Conceiving and Leading For Children, By Children: I designed this child-led programme from scratch. The 2026 Children's Day celebration was its first project, planned, coordinated, and executed by me. This programme proves that children can lead, not just participate.→ Speaking for Children: I share how 12-year-olds and other children actually think and feel about our projects so that our work is shaped by children's real experiences, not just adult assumptions.→ Helping My Peers: I help my classmates and fellow students understand how ELSOPHI can support them in school and encourage them to speak up about what they need.→ Giving Feedback: I review our work and make sure it is easy for children to understand and genuinely useful for kids like me.→ Showing the Way: I want to prove to other children that young people can help change our communities right now; we do not have to wait until we grow up."I want to show other children that we can help change our communities right now, even while we are young."John Alephia Omaye, Child Representative, ELSOPHI
