Elsophi Global Development marked Nigeria’s 2026 Children’s Day with a colourful community celebration bringing together children and families from underserved communities in Abuja on May 27–29, 2026.

This came under the “For Children, By Children” programme coordinated by the Child Representative of Elsophi, John Alephia Omaye. The event gathered boys and girls for a programme of activities, engagement sessions, and community fellowship; a visible expression of ELSOPHI’s conviction that every child, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves to be celebrated, seen, and heard.

The celebration drew children from diverse communities in Angwa Sayawa area on Airport Road, Abuja. ELSOPHI staff and volunteers facilitated the event, creating a safe, joyful, and inclusive space where children could simply be children.

Speaking at the event, Constance Omaye, Executive Director of ELSOPHI, said, “Children’s Day is not just a date on the calendar for us.” It is a reminder of why we exist. Every child we gathered with today represents a family, a community, and a future that deserves investment. At ELSOPHI, we celebrate children and then we go back to work to make sure their futures are better than their present.”

The celebration reflects ELSOPHI’s broader commitment to child-centred programming through the School Access Project (SAP), which is currently reaching learners across Dekina and Ofu LGAs in Kogi State and the FCT; working to enrol out-of-school children, strengthen foundational learning, and address the gender barriers that keep the most vulnerable children from thriving in school.

ELSOPHI believes that celebrating children and fighting for their rights are not separate acts; they are the same work.
